GENERAL

There are many roles and tasks that require an individual to have a specific set of skills and knowledge in order for them to perform their work safely and competently

Providence Training’s Safety Skills courses address the Legal, Health and Safety  and best working practice for a given role and at the same time impart the knowledge and skills needed to perform that role competently.

Some of our Safety Skills courses are scheduled regularly at our Centre at Neyland, Pembrokeshire whilst others are held on demand. All are available to be booked as a company or organisation specific course which could be held at our Centre, at your premises or site or any suitable third party venue.

Slinger Banksman Novice

Who For:Also known as Slinger Signaller it is for those who are required to sling and direct the movement of loads by lifting equipment.
Awarding Body:Qualpass
LevelN/A
Duration:2 Days, approximately 9am to 4pm
Theory Assessment:Yes, one assessment which combines multi-choice and written answers.
Practical Assessment:Each delegate will be required to sling a variety of loads and direct their movement and placement using signals and radio communication.
Scheduled:Every 3 months at our Centre in Neyland or at your site
What you will need:National Insurance Number and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Additional Info:This course requires delegates to perform relatively advanced calculations. Normally this course will utilise a Mobile Crane for lifting, however, sometimes a company specific course will be tailored to use the the lifting equipment you have on site eg. Telescopic Handler or Gantry Crane. In this situation the award your delegates receive will only cover them for operations using that specific machine ie. they would not be covered for slinging loads which are to be lifted by any other means. Your Qualpass card will be posted to your home address within a few weeks of passing the course unless your employer has paid for it, in which case, it will be posted to them.

Slinger Banksman Refresher

Who For:Also known as Slinger Signaller it is for those who are required to to renew their Slinger Banksman award.
Awarding Body:Qualpass

Additional Info:Open only to those who have a previous Slinger Banksman award and/or are experienced in the role. This course requires delegates to perform relatively advanced calculations. Normally this course will utilise a Mobile Crane for lifting, however, sometimes a company specific course will be tailored to use the the lifting equipment you have on site eg. Telescopic Handler or Gantry Crane. In this situation the award your delegates receive will only cover them for operations using that specific machine ie. they would not be covered for slinging loads which are to be lifted by any other means. Appointed Person Lifting Novice

Who For:Those who are responsible for planning lifting operations.
Awarding Body:Qualpass

Theory Assessment:Yes, one assessment which combines multi-choice and written answers.
Practical Assessment:Each delegate will be required to plan and implement a lifting operation in accordance with the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and best industry practice.
Scheduled:On demand at our Centre in Neyland or at your site
What you will need:A decent level of numeracy and literacy and ideally experience in lifting operations at Crane Supervisor or Slinger Banksman level. National Insurance Number and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Additional Info:This course requires delegates to perform relatively advanced calculations and write reports.. Normally this course will utilise a Mobile Crane for lifting, however, sometimes a company specific course will be tailored to use the the lifting equipment you have on site eg. Who For:Those who are required to renew their Appointed Person Lifting award.

Confined Space Entry

Who For:Those who are required to work in Medium to Low Risk confined spaces
Awarding Body:Qualpass

Duration:1 Day, approximately 9am to 4pm
Theory Assessment:Yes, one assessment which combines multi-choice and written answers.
Practical Assessment:You will be assessed entering and negotiating two separate confined space training areas which provide a variety of space constrictions, obstacles and environments. During these exercises you will use Escape Sets and also (delegate numbers allowing) conduct simulated rescue.
Scheduled:At our Centre in Neyland.
What you will need:National Insurance Number and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
Additional Info:Rescue awareness will only be conducted if there are sufficient delegates booked onto the course. This course is not suitable for those who suffer from Claustrophobia, heart or respiratory conditions. To renew your award you must resit the course. Your Qualpass card will be posted to your home address within a few weeks of passing the course unless your employer has paid for it, in which case, it will be posted to them.

Practical Assessment:You will be assessed erecting and dismantling Mobile Tower Scaffolding whilst working withing legal requirements and best working practice.
Scheduled:At our Centre in Neyland or at your site/premises. If the latter option is selected then you would provide the scaffolding and the manufacturers handbook must be available..

Additional Info:This course does not cover Quicklock Scaffolding. People booking this course should also consider Working @ Heights and Harness Safety Awareness training, To renew your award you must resit the course.
