We were delighted to receive visits from Member of the Senedd Paul Davies and Member of Parliament Henry Tufnell last week who were keen to see the work we are doing with a group of Tata Steel employees who have been made redundant as a result of the closure of the blast furnaces at Tata Steels’ Port Talbot site.

The group, who underwent a selection process, are receiving 10 days training at Providence, funded by the ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board). All the candidates will undertake the ECITB’s Hinkley Support Operatives Bronze Award package and will also receive 50% of the Hinkley Point C site induction. All who successfully complete the 10 days programme are guaranteed interviews with the MEH Alliance for General Labourers roles on Hinkley Point C.

Providence Training’s Director, David Warrell BSc said
“It has been a pleasure to work with the ECITB, the MEH Alliance, EDF and Neath Port Talbot Council to make this happen and I wish all the participants, who are a great bunch, every success with their courses, interviews and future careers within the Engineering Construction Sector.
He further stated that there is high demand for Engineering Construction training within Pembrokeshire but expressed concern that the funding for up – skilling and additional support was considerably less for those facing redundancy in Pembrokeshire.
He concluded by committing to work with other Pembrokeshire stake holders to help address this issue.
